How to educate your child

How to educate your child? Which one is the better option, public or private schools? It a question which almost every parent faces when making one of the earliest yet a very pertinent decision of their child life.
Whereas public education is free, private education demands shelling out thousands of dollars every year. Its cost may range anywhere between twelve thousand to thirty thousand dollars. Are the advantages of private education worth that kind of money?
One of the virtues of private schools is that they offer a safe, small community atmosphere. Private school classrooms are smaller in comparison with public schools and they tend to have a better student to teacher ratio. This allows teachers to give more individual attentions to every child and develop a good and caring personal relationship. It been observed that when classes are small children tend to integrate better with their peers and develop more intimate bonds with their friends.
The capacity of raising a tuition fee as well as a lesser degree of political interference and an independent administration allows private schools to provide more facilities and hire better staff. Where many parents fear the lack of strict rules and requirements for hiring teachers in privet schools would lower their standard of education. The truth is that a higher budget allows private schools to hire teachers with advanced degrees and greater experience over teachers with a plain simple education degree.
Private schools usually offer more extracurricular activates and programs. They furnish a more balanced education emphasizing equally on art and sports as well as the required basic course of every grade. From on-stage plays to musicals and better sport facilities, private schools better support students in exploring their talents and enriching their personality.
Compared to public schools the smaller community atmosphere and greater personal attention to each child reduces the chances of any incidents of campus violence and discourage other negative activities such as cutting classes and indulgence in drugs and alcohol.
Parent union and pressure groups have a much more leeway in private schools when compared with their public counterparts. As private schools are independent institution themselves and not subjected to public funding; they enjoy much greater administrative freedom. Unlike public schools, they are not bogged down by bureaucratic policies and are better capable of adapting with changing times. In fact, the primary source of funding for private schools is the parents and hence they are more likely to give value to their opinion and suggestions.
It the duty of public schools to provide education to each and every child and seeking education is every child right. This idea however noble it may seem, restricts public school from taking the extreme disciplinary action of expulsion for errant students. The same is not true when it comes to private schools; which act as a blessing in disguise. Though expulsion is quite rare even in private schools, the mere threat of one deters kids from indulging in unsociable activities.
The choice, in the end is yours to make but bear in mind that the school your child goes to plays a great role in shaping the man/woman they grow up to be.
